Silent Night

No light in the sky, deathly silence
A dull pain in my side
Stumbling over rocks,
as I wander
In search of what, I know not
Faint rustling sounds behind me
My heart beats hard and fast
In fear, of what?
I know not
A blind man in search
of something out there in the dark
A finite truth, a treasure, a good life
And I never found it
It eluded me in that silent night
Yet all the time it was here
Within me I discovered
All on a Silent Night
like this one
not long ago
When I finally took the time
to search within me
And there I found the gift
The gift of love
