Sarah
A name in a dream
A beautiful woman,
full of compassion
Gentle, a vision of
everything I desired
Unreal, only an illusion
perhaps
But one that I have
kept close to my heart
Through all those
troubled years,
My pain deadened by
the drink
She was there behind me,
close by me
A belief, a vision,
a guardian angel
Mysterious, perhaps a
product of my delusions
But yet I uttered her
name in desperate moments
She was the lover, the friend,
the companion, real enough
The one person who could
lead me out of this hell
I depended on her in those
very desperate moments
Life and death in the balance
And it was Sarah in
my mind, my guide
A beautiful vision,
compassionate, delightful,
gentle
She touched my shoulder
Gripped my hand
And somehow it was all right
again, good enough
Sarah of my worst moments
Sarah, my salvation
Sarah, my angel of mercy
